Title: 1.5.1 RC1, SE Store, and SE User Survey!
Post by: Jeff Lewis on January 21, 2003, 01:11:32 PM
1.5.1 RC1 Open Beta
Well, we're ready to release SE 1.5.1 RC1 to an open beta test! Normally we would release this as a normal version but with our new "policy" on open betas, we release the very first RC ever from YaBB SE.

It should be safe to use on production servers but if you feel at all uncomfortable, users can still use 1.4.1. If you find a bug that you'd like to submit to us, please make sure you post it on our Sourceforge trackers which can be found here:  http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=482971&group_id=57105&func=browse (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=482971&group_id=57105&func=browse)

When submitting a bug, please provide steps as to how you can duplicate it and make sure when submitting a bug, you choose the 1.5.1 RC1 group.

We will put a safe mode package up soon but for now here are two downloads:

Full - http://cbeta.yabbse.org/yabbse_1-5-1RC1.zip
Upgrade - http://cbeta.yabbse.org/yabbse_1-5-1RC1_upgrade.zip

SE User Survey
We're trying to collect a little information about how people are feeling regarding SE. We have added a user survey we are hoping our users will take part in. If you have a few moments, please take the time to let us know at http://www.yabbse.org/survey/yabbse.htm

There are a few questions and if you want to leave additional comments in the last question, please do.

SE Store
We recently added a few more items to the SE Store including some stickers, some more clothing, and even a teddy bear. Feel free to browse around: http://www.cafeshops.com/cp/store.aspx?s=yabbse (http://www.cafeshops.com/cp/store.aspx?s=yabbse)

Would really like ot thank the beta testers, MOD team and support team guys who really helped out a lot with this package. Thanks those who went in and fixed bugs, those that created new graphics and buttons, and those that I forget to mention so nobody feels left out ;)

Would really like to thank Christian Land and Bjorn for clearing up any security holes we could find on security bulletin sites, Unknown for putting a lot of time into this version, and Medimans team...

I think I'll be waiting for the non-beta version to come out before I download it.

Sorry but have never trusted beta versions of stuff, I'm too paranoid about my PC getting buggered up.

This brings up a good question...

I already have YaBB SE 1.50 running with some mods/bug fixes that [Unknown] came up with to fix most of the bugs in the initial release.

Where should I go from here? Is it now considered an upgrade?

Thanks in advance for the feedback :)

Yes, run upgrade.php and ignore any duplicate errors you get.

That error shouldn't matter... Try using the url http://yourdomain.blarg/stuff/upgrade.php?continue=

Does this new version include a fix for the blank pages that happened with 1.5.0? That seems to be the only problem that I have left now that I applied your bug fix pack a few weeks ago!

It should.

Okay, those with problems.... find this:

$continue = (isset($continue) ? $continue : $HTTP_GET_VARS['continue']);

And replace it with:

$continue = $HTTP_GET_VARS['continue']);

If I run the fresh install on top of my 1.5.0, will it mess up my database to where I lose data?  I realize I will lose any mods.

Doesn't work for me either, nothing happens when trying to run upgrade.php.

Also I get two errors:
1)
Unknown column 'b.ID_LAST_TOPIC' in 'on clause'

: 153

So obviously any columns/tables meant to be added by upgrade.php are not added.

2) The re-login problem again: you have to relogin after each link you follow, what was the solution for that ?

What I have done is put back al 1.4.1. files using FTP and now it is working again.

However what is always annoying is that individual installed mods get lost, so you have to re-install that manually.

Is it possible for future versions to leave files like language files out (often parts of texts from mods were added in the language files) or so ?

PS: I don't like the idea of having to register for another site (Sourgeforce) to report bugs, why isn't there an internal link to the bugs section here on this site ?

Try removing any/all instances of this line:

@set_time_out(300);

Those are the only two things that could be causing this.

Hmmz, I'll wait for the final version. I'm only going to upgrade frm YSE1.5.0, and I don't want to release my translation before I get the final version.
Sorry to say, but instead of downloading a version with possibility for bugs, I keep my existing version of YSE1.5.0 without bugs. Hope you will allow people to do that as well...

In upgrade.php

Replace all @set_time_out(300); by @set_time_limit(300);

or remove it completly it's only required to be in there if you have a very large board that would require more than 30 seconds to convert

More info about time limit: http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.set-time-limit.php

PS: I don't like the idea of having to register for another site (Sourgeforce) to report bugs, why isn't there an internal link to the bugs section here on this site ?

i gt the same error after installing 151.

As I said, fix upgrade.php and rerun it.  It did not fully/completely execute.

Any mods you had installed will be uninstalled, so language files SHOULD be reset.  Relogin can be fixed by upgrade.php too.

I was too fast with the thanks :'(
I came on to two other strange things:

When I enter a new message that message is copied about 18 times, so the board grows very quick :) This also applies to a new message in a new board.

The line with online users is growing rapidly also. There are now two different users but they are printer over two full lines. (http://www.testbank.hccnet.nl/yabbse/index.php (http://www.testbank.hccnet.nl/yabbse/index.php))

MedMan I deleted 4 instances of the @300 line.

reuploaded upgrade.php to my yabbse directory

then ran www.mysite/yabbse/upgrade.php
got the same.

did a hard refresh (ctrl key and F5) and got what I needed...

hope this helps

yes, that did. for some reason when i tried to find all those lines before, they jsut wouldn't be found in my editor. found them all this time though for some reason. *shrugs* dunno. it's fixed now though and it is all good. thanks again.

Thanks, using the new upgrade.php in your attached upgrade.zip, I noticed a lot more actions were performed in the second part of upgrade.php.

The problems including the cookie/relogin thing are now solved, I only need to reinstall some lost mods and some layout changes now.

As far as this message duplicating problem goes....  could you or digibike contact me on an im service so I can work through the problem with you?

well I found two things already (besides the upgrade issue)...

1.) you forgot to add 2003 to the copywrite.

2.) the pop-up help in admin area says this: Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_LNUMBER in /home/gravityx/public_html/forum/helpadmin.help on line 134

(I used the upgrade so I don't know if this is in the new install version. I do know that it was working in 1.4.1 and 1.5 so it's a new bug :))

For those with the online users duplication problem, run this query:

ALTER TABLE {$db_prefix}log_online ADD PRIMARY KEY (identity(30));

Or download the new package and run upgrade.php again.

Nope. Did all of your SQL get upgraded properly?

All I had was:

- log_online wasn't updating properly (fixed)
- member names aren't displaying in the error log (looking now)

Check that - now fixed in the download package (Unknown is uploading now).

Replace the Errors.php file or change this line:

Code: [Select]
SELECT le.ID_ERROR, le.IP, le.url, IFNULL(mem.memberName, 'Guest'), le.logTime, le.message

to

Code: [Select]

Well when I go to see inactive members over X amount of time it shows the correct users for that X amount of time but it says they have been inactive for 12074 days. Then when I check them and click delete I get:

Quote
Table 'ktnvforu_forum.yabbse_log_topic' doesn't exist
File: /home/ktnvforu/public_html/Sources/Admin.php
Line: 479

and the same happens when I go to just delete members. I downloaded my upgrade about an hour and a half ago so if you've fixed this after that then I will just try to use the latest update :)

Th upgrade zip keeps being uploaded by me, and you can't access it when this happens.  Just wait another two minutes.

OK, I've corrected about everything  --but I just can't seem to get the duplicated user thing fixed.

If you aren't logged on, it reports 0 guests 0 users --even though you are welcomed as guest. Each time the screen refreshes the guest count goes up by one. When you log on, you start multiplying and if you post, it refers to you as guest, not your user name in the post.

I'm getting a headache.  ;)

For those with the online users duplication problem, run this query:

ALTER TABLE {$db_prefix}log_online ADD PRIMARY KEY (identity(30));

Or download the new package and run upgrade.php again.

-[Unknown]

Have you tried that?

Did you rerun upgrade.php after downloading the latest package?

Okay, I'm pretty sure you've heard this question before, and it probably isn't an issue with this, but I can never be certain. I looked through the archives and couldn't find an answer that helped.

I got this error when I tried to apply a yabbpak.

2: mkdir() failed (No such file or directory)
(/home/virtual/site29/fst/var/www/html/yabbse/Sources/Packer.php ln 108)

It's probably a configuration error with my forum, rather than an error with the system.

Sounds like either a configuration problem or a mod problem.... which mod is it?

OK, everything is pretty much cool. The duplicate users deal is fixed.

But, funny thing. All my prior posts as administrator (about 500) have my name, but refer to me as guest. If I do a new post, I am administrator. All the old posts do not have my avatar, title or, sadly, stars.

No really big deal, but can anyone suggest anything to fix this? I think it might take a little sql tweaking which I am not good at.

I fixed this by clearing my cache.  Apparently the old Javascript was there and messing things up.  I had uploaded the file in ASCII so that was not the problem.  As soon as I deleted my Internet files everything worked great.  This release is FAST!!!!!!!!!

You need to reassign all the posts to your new member id...

UPDATE yabbse_messages SET ID_MEMBER = xxxx WHERE posterName='yyyy'

Where xxxx is your new ID_MEMBER:
SELECT ID_MEMBER WHERE memberName='admin'

And yyyy is your old name, for example "charpress".

Now I'm kind of reluctant to use the upgrade(.php), so I would like to put the excisting contents of my tables into the newly mad tables by v1.5.1Rc1

One of the reasons is, that I have heaps of mods on my board built in, and I would like to start with "clean" tables.

Another reasons is that I don't want to lose any data, and want to do the conversion quick and clean without being offline too long.

Now I've asked Compuart to help me out, and he mad something for me to get started with, but I don't want to bug him now, because he's very busy with his own website.

Maybe there are more people who want a script like this ?

It should read out ONLY the rows/columns (?) that are useful for the new database, and put all data directly into it.  Perhaps in chunks of 100 or 1000 at a time, because of time-outs that could occur ?

In phpmyadmin it is possible to duplicate tables, so I could manage it that way, but I wanted to ask this here, so maybe some other people could be helped with it.

I want to upgrade a.s.a.p. because this Rc1 version rulezzz !

Storing cookies locally allows them to only be accessed inside the yabbse folder. It's basically a security option. You can probably enable it unless you use SSI.php or similar scripts to access parts of your forum elsewhere on your website.

Well, I've just upgraded and everything seems to have gone fine except for one tiny MySQL error which I'm not going to bother about here till I've double-checked if it's already been covered. But can anyone tell me why there are two sets of the on, off, new_some and new_none images (I had to take a look at these and think about what I was doing because I've customised mine) and whether any of these (new_some or new_none?) are duplicated with different text among the many foreign language images that seem to have appeared?

Well, I've just upgraded and everything seems to have gone fine except for one tiny MySQL error which I'm not going to bother about here till I've double-checked if it's already been covered.

Yep, it was the 'Multiple primary key defined' thing already reported by Larry Laffer and commented on by Jeff. But I definitely only ran upgrade.php once, I can't see anything wrong with the board and I'm hoping it's self-fixing as suggested by both Jeff and the text 'Fixing Settings.php...'

Multiple image/language support was added in 1.5.1.  The extra set of images correspond to the images that /should/ go in the spanish and german directories off of YaBBImages.

I would redo that survey some and explain in the desired features section what some of those things are.  For example, not everyone knows what CMS is.  I would add dcforum to the list of forums people have switched from.  That would include me.  Larry

toppertje your board must be using an old version of LogInOut.php.

First off your cookies you are setting have no name and the way they are being sent looks very familiar to the way it happened in old versions. Make sure you've updated all the php files to 1.5.1 versions.

Damn Cookies!

Okay I got a login problem...usual story can't stay logged in...upgraded fine to 1.5.1...sweet as a nut but can't get logged in.

I noticed in settings.php that there is only one cookie now...which I have set to "Yabbse151"

How do I fix this it is driving me crazy....board click here (http://www.descent-world.co.uk/yabbse)

Odd I'm getting logged out too and it is setting the cookie correctly too. So either the password is being encrypted wrong in the cookie or something is wrong with Load.php.

Ok the password and username is being set correctly, just compared the cookie values with another board I have that is working.
Try changing the following in Load.php:

Code: [Select]
  if (isset($_COOKIE[$cookiename]))
   {
      list($username, $password) = @unserialize(stripslashes($_COOKIE[$cookiename]));
      $username = ($username != "") ? $username : 'Guest';
   }
to
Code: [Select]
  if (isset($_COOKIE['Yabbse151']))
   {
      list($username, $password) = @unserialize(stripslashes($_COOKIE['Yabbse151']));
      $username = ($username != "") ? $username : 'Guest';
   }

   if (isset($HTTP_COOKIE_VARS[$cookiename]))
   {
      list($username, $password) = @unserialize(stripslashes($HTTP_COOKIE_VARS[$cookiename]));

Ok if you are using a version of PHP before 4.1.0, which is below the YaBB SE requirements btw, you have to use $HTTP_COOKIE_VARS instead of $_COOKIE. And jon_e I checked and I think you have PHP 4.0.6.

   global $password, $username, $cookiename, $HTTP_COOKIE_VARS;

Now I've asked Compuart to help me out, and he made something for me to get started with, but I don't want to bug him now, because he's very busy with his own website.

Seems like nobody paid attention to my question, but no worries : Compuart made a script for me, and I made the other scripts to convert my tables :)

I only have one question :

Table {prefix}log_boards
Table {prefix}log_errors
Table {prefix}log_mark_read
and
Table {prefix}log_topics ....

....have "memberName" instead of "ID_MEMBER in it.  Is it possible to put the contents of the old "ID_MEMBER" into the new table "memberName" or what ?

The structures :

old :

Code: [Select]
CREATE TABLE old_log_boards (
  memberName tinytext NOT NULL,
  ID_BOARD int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
  logTime bigint(20) default NULL,
  KEY ID_BOARD (ID_BOARD)
) TYPE=MyISAM PACK_KEYS=1;

new :

Code: [Select]
CREATE TABLE new_log_boards (
  ID_MEMBER mediumint(8) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
  ID_BOARD smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
  logTime int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
  PRIMARY KEY  (ID_BOARD,ID_MEMBER)
) TYPE=MyISAM;

Thanx in advance ;)

This is PRECISELY what upgrade.php does.  Even if you won't run it, at least take a look at it and execute the statements you want.  (Warning: it does it in a roundabout manner.)

I changed it - less round-about now...

Ok, but this script doesn't alter the existing, but makes a duplicate.  I thought that was (for me) saver ;)

So, my question about the 4 tables, can I find the solution in upgrade.php, or can you just give me the answer ;) ?

Everythign from (in the latest download) line 144 to line 246 is what you want.

I really would just copy those lines to explain it.

The latest download (upgrade.php) is in the first post ?  That one is updated ?

(maybe it should be stated there that it is an updated upgrade.php ?)

It would make it easier for me if you told me to put the memberName values into the ID_MEMBER table or noet....   :-X ?

I'm sorry.  The fix only works in newer versions of MySQL.  We are considering solutions for previous versions, and will have a fix as soon as possible.

What version of MySQL should work? I can allways ask the server-admin if an update is possible (hopefully in the near future ;))

I would redo that survey some and explain in the desired features section what some of those things are.  For example, not everyone knows what CMS is.  I would add dcforum to the list of forums people have switched from.  That would include me.  Larry

True on the sections...as for the other forums, I put the ones that were actually what we deem "competition" :)

Well, as a matter of possible interest, they just came out with a php/MySQL version.  Larry

A security vulnerability has been found, and exploited by hackers on a number of websites.  A patch is on the way, but I have updated the package to include a *small* fix for this.  (but it will stop hackers in their tracks.)

A better and more comprehesive fix is on it's way.

EVERYONE DOWNLOAD THE NEW PACKAGE!!!

Please, everyone who is participating in the open beta test, download the new upgrade zip file every day or so.

As bugs are fixed, I am including them in the most recent version of this beta.  I think I'm on build 36 or so now.  (should I number them?)

Would it be possible to make this available without all the images (dial-up alert!) if they're not subject to change?

Let me clarify.

If you have any version of YaBB SE prior to 1.5.1RC1, use the upgrade version. (and run upgrade.php)

If you have the RC1, please use the update version.  (and run it's different upgrade.php)

If you do not have any version of YaBB SE installed, use the full version.

Thank you,

Unknown, is going by the filedate in the update.zip any indication of which files were changed? IOW, can I just overwrite those dated the 21/22nd? I've modded some of the files already on my site, and I rather keep the changes to a minimum. :)

And yes, I realize this is beta... not faulting you, just trying to save myself some unnecessary work. ;)

Just use the update zip - it's considerably smaller.

Size isn't the question... the question was really, which files were modified? I have my YaPP/PfaBB set up already and I noticed a couple of files were changed, so I did them manually. But I had to redo my portal mods back into some of the Sources files. So my question was more of which files did you touch so I know I got them all? :)
