This mod allows you to enable "super" sticky topics. Marking a topic as super sticky will cause it to be listed at the top of each page in that board. Upon install the Super Stickies are not enabled. You can enable them in the "Admin section -> Mod settings" right below the setting for regular stickies. If you have marked topics as super sticky and then disable super stickies, they will display as regular stickies.
One minor issue that is not likely to be resolved:
1) Super Sticky Topics do not count toward the max topic count on the page. So if your max count is 20 and you have 3 super sticky topics... each page actually gets 23 topics listed. No big deal. Its up to you to limit the number of super sticky topics. ;)
superstickymod (http://www.netamorphic.com/mods.by.jack/) - updated 06/05/2003
Updates:
05/05/2003 - updated to work with 1.5.1/1.5.2
06/05/2003 - Updated/verified with 1.5.3
Enjoy!
I should mention that be sure to back up your data before applying this, or any, mod. Everything I post works fine in my YaBB installation but your milage may vary.

I updated it! Give it a go.

Well, it works fine on my board, but had to alter the tables myself. Maybe you could look into it ?
Also, can you post the images in this thread, because I did the mod manually, and couldn't unpack the images........ :-\

Just found this through a search for 'super sticky', but we're looking for something for 1.5.2 so please could you let me know whether or not an update's on the agenda?
-
Unfortunatly, 1.5.1 code change drastically in the way the sticky topics were handled. I tried briefly to update it for 1.5.1 but it was more than I had time to tackle at that time... not that I have much more time right now, but I'll revisit it to see if I can get a fresh perspective on it.

Thanks for the quick response, Jack!
If it's too much to deal with just now we could always put in a request for it as a core feature because being able to post a super sticky like 'Welcome to the XXXX forum (please read before posting)!' to the top of a board and know it was going to stay there would be just so useful...
-
How's that for service? Give it a go... should be fine for both 1.5.1 and 1.5.2

Oops! After reading your previous reply, I went and wrote up my own version.... implemented differently, but yours is probably better. (mine requires no db changes though...) I figured you weren't going to update this, so I minus well, especially since I already had a way to do it worked out....

I see them as very different. Mine only holds "super sticky" for the board it was posted in and does not appear any where else in the forum. Its not an announcement... its just a sticky topic that stays on each page of that board.
I wonder if they are compatible?

Oh... then I completely misunderstood the point of this mod. Happens when you haven't slept for over 20 hours, I suppose.
*goes back and re-reads the description...*
Oh. My bad.
Probably not compatible... but it's quite possible they are.

I saw both tonight, but I'm planning to try Jack's because we want to vary the text of the same super sticky slightly from board to board.

I've got it installed on one of my boards, everything appeared to go through smoothly on both the test and real runs, the changes all seem to have been made (I've checked that my English.lng has been changed and supersticky.gif added to YaBBImages), but I'm not seeing any obvious difference to the board (as in either the presence of the supersticky.gif or how to specify a topic as super sticky).
So any ideas?
TIA

probably my bad here. I default the "Enable Super Sticky Topics" to off... you ca switch them on in the admin area, Mod settigns right below regular sticky topics.
Let me know if that does not solve the issue.

lol I have the same problem1
???
Wth is up with it will wait for next update!

That did it!

Thanks, Jack 8)
That's the first place I should have looked, but it was very late and missing it wasn't my first stupid mistake of the night!
Great mod, BTW. Noted that existing super stickies degrade gracefully to stickies if you disable them...

German:

$txt['yse96b'] = 'Super Top Thema';
$txt['yse97b'] = 'Super Top Thema geschlossen';

Updated/Tested to work in 1.5.3
-Jack

And how about the 1.5.4?
-
No problem...
None of files changed between 1.5.3 and 1.5.4 are altered by the Super Sticky Topics Mod, so it works perfectly! :)

Somehow, I have trouble installing this mod from BM. In BoardMod it says there's only 1 file to edit. And there's no name of that file at all....
What could this be?
-
None of my mods are really built for BM. I can't be too much help with that. But if you downloaded the .zip file, it should contain about 99% of what you need to install with BoardMod.
