The enable quick reply box tick box in mod settings wont stay sicked for me

Set it to 1 with phpmyadmin though...

The reply box is a wee bit small I'd say and it would be better if the option in the profile was to disable it so by default its enabled and the user has the option to disable it....

Oh and the url seems to be hard coded to /community and I have mine at /forum so it doesnt work for me.

Bit more work needed i think but its got potential...

Post Reply button in upper left corner?
Why is it there?  It doesn't actually do anything.

What I had (until I deleted the lines in your code) was a Post Reply button in the upper left of the box that did nothing.  At the bottom under the text field I had *another* button called "Post" that works.

I have another issue, tho, now.  The Quick-Reply box only shows on threads you have made at least one post to.  If I created the thread, its there.  If I have already replied to a thread, its there.  If I did not create the thread and did not reply yet, its not there.  As soon as I reply, it appears.

Ok, a new bug, thnx. I'll fix that soon.

The file has been updated.

If you have installed that mod already, don't download it again ;)
Just add the following code
Code: [Select]
   LoadUser($username);
before
Code: [Select]
   $allowed = ($modSettings['QuickReply'] && !$locked && $userprofile[$username]['QuickReply']) ? "1" : "0"; :)
If you have a post in that thread, your userprofile will be loaded in $userprofile, but if you haven't, $userprofile[$username] doesn't exist ;)
this code will load that ;)

After installing the mod, find this:

Code: [Select]
  <TR>
   <TD HEIGHT="20" COLSPAN="2" CLASS="windowbg"><IMG SRC="$imagesdir/reply.gif" ALT="" BORDER="0"><B>{$txt['QuickReply3']}</B></TD>
 </TR>

Make it look like this:

Code: [Select]
  <TR>
   <TD HEIGHT="20" COLSPAN="2" CLASS="windowbg"><B>{$txt['QuickReply3']}</B></TD>
 </TR>

Also, open modsettings.php and look for this typo:
Code: [Select]
$onofArray['quickreplyChecked'] = 'QuickReply';

Change it to this:

Code: [Select]
$onoffArray['quickreplyChecked'] = 'QuickReply';

Notice the extra "f"

I ran it and got this error?

Code: [Select]
Error updating the DB. SQL Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '`yabbse_members` ADD `QuickReply` TINYINT(1) DEFAULT '1' NOT NULL;' at line 1
Data inserted!

So you now get this when trying to edit your profile.
Code: [Select]

I sorted it using phpMyAdmin.

1) Add new field @ end of table
2) Field =Field, Type of TINYINT value of 1,  Not Null, defualt of 1

Anyhow nice mod  :)

Title: Quick-Reply VS Mute User
Post by: Wiziwig on September 03, 2002, 12:06:25 AM
If you happen to be using mute user from Jedi, this "fix" will allow quick reply to work with mute. Quick reply will disapear if the user is muted..

Code: [Select]

<search for>
   $QuickReply = QuickReply($mstate,$msubthread);
  print <<<EOT
  </font> </td>
</tr>
<tr>
  <td align="right" colspan="2"><form action="$scripturl" method="GET">
  <font size="1">$txt[160]:</font>$selecthtml</form></td>
</tr>
</table>
   $QuickReply
EOT;

      footer();
      obExit();
}
</search for>

<replace>
   $QuickReply = QuickReply($mstate,$msubthread);
   print <<<EOT
   </font> </td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
   <td align="right" colspan="2"><form action="$scripturl" method="GET">
   <font size="1">$txt[160]:</font>$selecthtml</form></td>
 </tr>
</table>
EOT;
   if ($muteuser[0] == 0) {
      print "<BR>$QuickReply";

   footer();
   obExit();
}

I use it on my 1.4.1 board, but I had to manually install it cuz it wasn't finding everything it wanted to.

I dunno if that's cuz of the new version or that my board is modded so much already that the code is changed. Either way, work it out, it should be fine.

I have installed Quick reply mod and the quick reply box is showing on each board, but it does not work.  You can enable it in the Profile, but its not in the admin center. Why does it not work? I have a error when I typed www.myserver.com/dbmod.php:

Yes, I get all those errors too. The first 2 errors when applying the mod are due to using the wrong amount of spaces etc, doesn't match the one in the source files. But once I applied it manually I got those errors in the profile, and a error when I tried to go to 'Install Mods Settings and Options'. I have no idea how to fix these though :(

Quick Reply for 1.5 works in 1.5.1 with only one change. In the mod file, change this:
Code: [Select]
<search for>
   $request = mysql_query("
      SELECT passwd, realName, emailAddress, websiteTitle, websiteUrl, signature, posts, memberGroup, ICQ, AIM, YIM, gender, personalText, avatar, dateRegistered, location, birthdate, timeFormat, timeOffset, hideEmail, ID_MEMBER, usertitle, karmaBad, karmaGood, lngfile, MSN, secretQuestion, secretAnswer
      FROM {$db_prefix}members
      WHERE memberName='$user'");
</search for>

<replace>
   $request = mysql_query("
      SELECT passwd, realName, emailAddress, websiteTitle, websiteUrl, signature, posts, memberGroup, ICQ, AIM, YIM, gender, personalText, avatar, dateRegistered, location, birthdate, timeFormat, timeOffset, hideEmail, ID_MEMBER, usertitle, karmaBad, karmaGood, lngfile, MSN, secretQuestion, secretAnswer, QuickReply
      FROM {$db_prefix}members
      WHERE memberName='$user'");
</replace>

to this:
Code: [Select]
<search for>
        $request = mysql_query("
                SELECT passwd, realName, emailAddress, websiteTitle, websiteUrl, signature, posts, memberGroup, ICQ, AIM, YIM, gender, personalText, avatar, dateRegistered, location, birthdate, timeFormat, timeOffset, hideEmail, ID_MEMBER, usertitle, karmaBad, karmaGood, lngfile, MSN, secretQuestion, secretAnswer
                FROM {$db_prefix}members
                WHERE memberName='$user'") or database_error(__FILE__, __LINE__);
</search for>

<replace>
        $request = mysql_query("
                SELECT passwd, realName, emailAddress, websiteTitle, websiteUrl, signature, posts, memberGroup, ICQ, AIM, YIM, gender, personalText, avatar, dateRegistered, location, birthdate, timeFormat, timeOffset, hideEmail, ID_MEMBER, usertitle, karmaBad, karmaGood, lngfile, MSN, secretQuestion, secretAnswer, Quickreply
                FROM {$db_prefix}members
                WHERE memberName='$user'") or database_error(__FILE__, __LINE__);
</replace>

Otherwise it seems to work fine.  Don't use Boardmod, tho.  Half the commands won't work due to spacing changes.

You use english.lng ?

You will find there :

$txt['QuickReply1'] until $txt['QuickReply4']

if not : insert it manually.

Then, in your profile you should see the option (if Profile.php was adjusted like it is supposed to)

Did you check the files that were altered by the mod ?  Is the code there ?  I mean, is the code in Profile.php end / or the other files that are supposed to be altered ?

This one of the easiest mods, and it should therefor not be too hard to install.......... :-\

      $memsettings['QuickReply'] = ($memsettings['QuickReply'] == 1 ? ' checked' : '');

                        <td width="50">
                           <select name="language">';

Note : there are more entries needed for the quickreply to work !  So pasting this piece is not enough, I think you have to go through te mod manually !

Hellow, I'm back again. :o

I'll make a new mod-file, so it will be YaBB SE 1.5.1 RC1 -compatible. :)

Before I forget it: Now a (global) moderator/administrator can reply on a locked topic by clicking on the 'Reply'-button, but in my new version, the quick-reply box will stay if you're a (global) moderator/administrator. It doesn't matter the topic is locked. :)

Stay tuned. 8) ;D

Done! ;D

Info:

If the administrator enables this mod, the user gets an option in his profile to enable/disable the quick-reply box.
Global Moderators, Moderators of that board and Administrators will see the quick-reply box even if the topic has been locked.
Check the first-post to download the new version (v 1.4)

Post by: sylvester_ on May 16, 2003, 08:11:19 PM
I've lost the password of my account (sylvester) and the password of my mailbox, so I had to register again and start a new topic, because the topic (http://www.yabbse.org/community/index.php?board=158;action=display;threadid=11379) has been locked.

I made this mod compatible for 1.5.x :)

Quick-Reply releases:
YaBB SE 1.4/1.4.1 (http://members.chello.nl/v.gokduman/tmp/mods/QuickReply_v1.2.zip) (v1.2)
YaBB SE 1.5 (http://members.chello.nl/v.gokduman/tmp/mods/QuickReply_v1.3.zip) (v1.3)
YaBB SE 1.5 (http://members.chello.nl/v.gokduman/tmp/mods/QuickReply_v1.4.zip) (v1.4)
YaBB SE v1.5.1 (http://members.chello.nl/v.gokduman/tmp/mods/QuickReply_v1.5.1.zip) (v1.5.1)
YaBB SE v1.5.2 (http://members.chello.nl/v.gokduman/tmp/mods/QuickReply_v1.5.2.zip) (v1.5.2)

Enjoy! :)

Btw - silly question - I'm installing the mod manually. So after adjusting info according to the MOD file, I then upload the dbmod.php file to my website yabb folder and run it? Just thought I'd better check first...

would it be hard to put a checkbox "Notification of replies" near quick reply box? as it's the only thing which make me use sometimes "Reply" dialog...
Also I think that putting smiles above form is great idea.

I finally got the Smilies to "work" also :)

I'll show yout the code, I didn't make a mod of it, and I'm sure it could be done better, but hey, it works for me :) :

I also made an extra entry in the language.lng :

Code: [Select]
$txt[notifyquick] = 'Check this if you want to receive notifications by email when there is a reply to this topic.';

Maybe somebody can try it ?

I think this works ok on my board, so "shoot" !!

And, well, it is only for people who have the add-more-smilies-mod built in.  Others could leave it, and skip that line ;) ?

Is there somebody willing to try this one, I added the modifications to Sylvester's mod.
Also added a more-smilies button.

Note : when you don't have the add-more-smilies-mod (are there still people who don't ;) ?), delete the lines :

Code: [Select]
<script>
function smileywin() {
window.open("?action=smileyput", 'list', 'width=900,height=600,scrollbars=yes,resize=yes');
}
</script>

and

Code: [Select]
<a href="javascript:smileywin()"><img src=$imagesdir/moresmilies.gif border=0></a>
from the mod file.

(put the moresmilies.gif in your YaBBImages directory).

It would be great if there is somebody who could test this on a clean 1.5.2/3 installation :)

G'luck !

you've installed 2 mods before this one... I'm sorry, but I think you have to mod it manually.

I only have a few different mods installed and this one seems to work perfect. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact it redirects the users to the board where the topic they just replied to was, rather then the actual topic. Great job none-the-less.

Just wanted to let you know that I installed this on my forum, though I had to do it manually due to some other mods changing a few lines.. no big deal there.
This is a feature that a LOT of my members couldn't live without.  Thanks for the mod.

I changed thoses little lines in the code of Display.php; now the "Post" and "Reset Form" change with the language pack your board uses :)

(approx on line 70 - with Dreamweaver MX, it gave me line 71 and 72)

I love this mod, thx!  :D

I'm testing it now and found what seems to be a bug

when you move a thread to another board, then in the board index, you have the new post mentioned in the new board, but it isn't removed from the board the thread was moved from... I don't know if I made sense  ::)

and I wanted to suggest that a MOVED message be left in the prior board with the link to the new one

Hi Sylvester

When I open the Profile in the Internet Explorer before the instalation in the BoardMod, I saw this:

Unknown column 'QuickReply' in 'field list'
File: /home/dbzex/public_html/forum/Sources/Profile.php
Line: 43

What is this?!

You have to put
Code: [Select]
<input type="checkbox" name="notify" /> somewhere in Subs.php (the last function in that file). So you get a checkbox for the notify-function.

The quick reply on my site is being shown to guests
I don't know what to do. There's any idea?
here's my edited code (the last part of display.php)

Code: [Select]

echo QuickReply($mstate,$msubthread);
footer();
obExit();
}
function QuickReply($locked,$subject="N/A") {
global $board,$threadid,$username,$userprofile,$cgi,$modSettings,$color,$txt,$imagesdir,$ubbcjspath,$sc, $moderators,$settings;
LoadUser($username);
$allowed = ($modSettings['QuickReply'] && $userprofile[$username]['QuickReply'] && (!$locked || ($settings[7] == 'Administrator' || $settings[7] == 'Global Moderator' || in_array($username,$moderators)))) ? true : false;
if($allowed) {
$return=<<<EOT
<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript" LANGUAGE="JavaScript 1.2" SRC="$ubbcjspath"></SCRIPT>
<TABLE WIDTH="80%" BORDER="0" align="center" CELLPADDING="3" CELLSPACING="1" BGCOLOR="$color[bordercolor]" CLASS="bordercolor" VALIGN="TOP">

<TD WIDTH="100%" VALIGN="top" ALIGN="center" CLASS="windowbg"> <FORM METHOD="POST" ACTION="$cgi;action=post2;threadid=$threadid" NAME="postmodify" onSubmit="submitonce(this);">
<B>{$txt['QuickReply3']}</B>
<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="subject" VALUE="Re:$subject" />
<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="icon" value="xx" />
<input type="hidden" name="sc" value="$sc" />
<TEXTAREA CLASS="editor" NAME="message" COLS="100" ROWS="6" STYLE="WIDTH: 95%; HEIGHT: 100px"></TEXTAREA>

</FORM></TD>
</TR>
</TABLE>
EOT;
}
else {
$return = "";
}
return $return;
}
?>

I've also tried to replace it with the "original" code, but with no luck :(.

if you don't want quick-reply shown to guests, it could be as simple as wrapping the code for it in display with this condition

Code: [Select]
if ($username != 'Guest'){

//quick-reply code here

}

haven't tried it though, so it may not work

Hi there sylvester!
I've already solved the problem, anyway thanks for your input. :) Yes, I'm using a pfabb-compatible quick reply (the one from memphisto_kur). My main problem was that guest were able to reply and nothing was shown as their name. So I have 100s of posts with "" as author. And when somebody quotes a such guest, quotes aren't properly displayed. Now I'll have to invent a  mysql query to solve this issue. :(

that isn't that hard.

I haven't checked the tabelstructure at the moment, so I'm not sure that code is working.

How to enable the quick reply option??

OR do I have to use some package manager, where everything is done for me??

For the parse error check to make sure you don't have any excess/missing brackets around that line of your Display.php file.

For the fatal error make sure that you edited your Subs.php file correctly/completely.

The quick reply was appearing to guest and they were able to reply. And nothing was stored as their name, so it was difficult to quote them without screwing all the layout. I've fixed the problem in a simple way: I added a hidden input "Guest"...
